Google Humboldt Campus

Sunnyvale, California

400,000 Sq. Ft., 11.4-acre Office Campus in Four 3-Story Buildings

Completed 2022

The Humboldt campus is designed like Google’s first-ever ground-up project, 1212 Bordeaux, while successfully implementing lessons learned from that project. Humboldt embodies an office experience that puts user well-being and social interaction at the forefront. This is demonstrated by the many outdoor and indoor wellness areas, along with an effective interior layout of the team space, core, and meeting rooms. The central courtyard includes an outdoor gym, patio seating, hammocks, and a variety of native plant species and greenspace. The “Amenity Loop” wraps around the courtyard and leverages ground-floor pedestrian paths and second-floor catwalks to connect the campus-wide cafes, gyms, event spaces, and lounges. All buildings have a sawtooth roof fitted with south-facing solar panels and north-facing clerestory windows, providing passive lighting to the open-plan team space interior. The building facades are equipped with View Smart Windows - exterior glazing that automatically adjusts its tint in response to natural light variations throughout the day.
